In my opinion, the best way to defeat terrorism is to simply stop being afraid of everything that could happen to you & your loved ones and others worldwide.
People need to start worrying about whats happening in their own backyard and house before they even step foot into city, state, national and international politics and media concerns.
I realize that this seems like a contradiction, but look at your backyard and your house for once and pay attention to ALL the little stuff for one day or even an hour. I'll bet that you find at least five things within that first hour that will drive you bat-shit crazy and you never even realized they were there or happened all because you weren't paying attention to the important stuff.

Lemme just start off with a few facts about me, so as to not confuse what you think of my position on the Operating System standpoint.
- I love using OpenSuSE Linux - It just works if you put your computer together right.
- I like OS X - because it works flawlessly no matter what you do to it, almost.
- I'd rather use my BlackBerry Storm for a personal computer than touch a windows machine.
- I like my iPod Touch 8GB - it has ample room for music while I'm working on a project outside.
Now for my review of what Apple has just released on the masses.

Note: as of OS X 10.6, this script will no longer work.
Have you ever needed to resize an image on your Mac, like right now?
Then the attached script is for you.
Just place it where you can access it easily, such as the dock. then whenever you need to resize your images to a pre-set size, just drag & drop onto the icon. Wait a little bit, depending on how many you dropped onto it, then open the newly created folder holding all your resized images.
Source Code - resize-800x_scpt.zip
Compiled App - resize-800x_app.zip
Just a note, both of these by default resize to 800xN. Where N is a relative size as to keep scaling ratio correct in the final output. You can download the script code, open it in the AppleScript editor and change the default 800 to whatever you need it to be. Then just hit the Save as App in the File menu. Then you are all set to go with your new resize script.

Are you tired of having to [CMD]+Click then select 'Empty Trash' on your Mac? I was too when my MacBook was still living, but that's another story.
Attached are two files, one is source code for the other 'compiled' version. They are AppleScript to automatically empty the trash with a single click.
To use, just extract the compiled one to wherever you want to put it on your disk, then drag it to the dock. Now, whenever you need to empty the trash, just click the icon and continue with whatever you need to do.
Please let me know if this has been helpful at all.
The Compiled version - EmptyTrash_app.zip
The Source Code - EmptyTrash_scpt.zip |

So you just went and bought one of those nice shiny Time-Capsule's from Apple and now you have a Linux box that needs access to the storage area of it. Well, you've come to the right place. I will describe how to get you Linux machine to read and write on that new piece of hardware.
There are a few things that you are going to need before we start.
-
The disk name of your TimeCapsule
-
The name of the folder you want to read and write to
-
A mount point on your Linux box (eg: an empty folder that you can access)
-
Finally, and most importantly, access to the mount command

One day, there was a catastrophic event which caused all living creatures on earth to die.
To sort things out, everyone went to heaven.
God approaches and says, 'I want the men to make two lines. One line for the men who ruled their women on earth and the other line for the men who were ruled by their women. Also, I want all the women to go with St. Peter.'
With that said and done, the next time God looked, the women were gone and there were two lines. The line of men who were ruled by their women was 1000 miles long, and in the line of men who ruled their women, there was only one man.
God became angry and said, 'You men should be ashamed of yourselves. I created you in my image and you were all whipped by your mates. Look at the only one of my sons who stood up and made me proud. Learn from him! Tell them, my son, how did you manage to be the only one in this line?'
The man replied, 'I don't know, my wife told me to stand here.' |
